We discuss issues as follow:

  1. Historically low interest rates must be addressed by the Bank of Canada;
  2. Canada is not prepared for a global financial crisis, given our relatively small population size, the negative impacts will be felt more significantly than other nations.
  3. Lack of housing supply is the primary issue that must be addressed.
  4. Proposal: Municipal amalgamation to increase efficiencies & reduce taxes & fees – reduce municipalities and combine into regions – specific examples: Waterloo, Peel, York.
  5. Enact federal legislation: A stand-alone “Real Estate Act” or amendment to the “National Housing Act” that governs the National Housing Strategy.
  6. Increase Transparency to address money laundering and reduce “phantom buyers.”
  7. Log & track identities of prospective buyers making offers

We will be happy to stay in touch and continue to work on the issues.
